“Stitching Together Tuscaloosa’s History” – Maintaining Textiles

In this video segment, UA student volunteer and exhibit curator Allison Mansour shares her insights on the importance of maintaining textiles in museum collections as well as specific details about the Bicentennial Quilt learned from interviewing head quilter Yvonne Wells.

The Mildred Westervelt Warner Transportation Museum is proud to present “Stitching Together Tuscaloosa’s History” for the dates of February 16 – March 27, 2021. This student curated exhibition was created as a celebration of Tuscaloosa’s ever-changing and diversifying communities and takes a new look at the Tuscaloosa Bicentennial Quilt through the lens of Black History and the rich stories spun by African American quilters.
